What is NFC?
Near Field Communication is the term coined for the technology that makes it possible for devices to touch each other.
The most popular examples of NFC devices are:
– The NFC enabled phone
– The NFC tag
With an NFC enabled phone, you can exchange business cards, phone numbers and other data by touching another NFC phone. You can also touch an NFC tag which contains a phone number, SMS number or web URL.
For example, when you see an NFC-enabled Spider-Man 5™ poster, touch the poster with your phone and you will be redirected to the Spider-Man 5™ web site.
We expect NFC to become ubiqutous within a couple of years, because it’s being pushed by companies already heavily influencing our daily lives such as Nokia, Sony and Philips. NFC Directory was created so that you would not have to search for relevant NFC websites yourself, but they are all listed on our home page.
